Science Week

This year, we kicked off Science Week with a bang, offering students the chance to explore the fascinating world of science through hands-on experiments, exciting activities, and engaging demonstrations. The celebration was all about sparking curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and inspiring students to see the world through the lens of science.

Year took part in a physics experiment when they created parachutes for eggs to protect them from a step drop.

Year 2 took part in a physic experiment exploring different aeroplane shapes and testing which one travelled the furthest based on the design.

Year 3 took part in a biology experiment where they conducted a practical demonstration of the foods journey through the digestive system and the function of the organs involved.

Year 4 took part in a biology experiment where they recorded their fingerprints and made observations about their appearance. Then, they compared and identified patterns.

Year 5 took part in a chemistry experiment where they carried out an experiment together to see if Mentos had the same reaction in different fizzy drinks.

Year 6 took part in a chemistry experiment where they got their hands dirty investigating if adding saline solution will make slime stickier or less sticky.

By the end of the week, students were not only more knowledgeable about scientific concepts but also more excited about exploring the world of science in the future. Science Week at Gonville was a fantastic success, sparking imaginations and showing students that science is everywhere, from the smallest atoms to the largest galaxies. It was full of discovery, learning, and fun that students will remember for years to come!
