At Gonville, we prioritise a comprehensive assessment approach that includes both formative and summative assessments.
Formative assessments occur throughout the learning process, providing real-time feedback to children. These assessments such as live marking, hinge-point questions, pupil conferencing and independent work allow us to tailor learning experiences to individual needs.
Summative assessments on the other hand, evaluate student learning at the end of a term usually in the form of a test or moderation, offer a comprehensive overview of students’ knowledge. By balancing formative and summative assessment we create a supportive learning environment where students receive timely feedback and are well-prepared for future challenges, ensuring their academic success and personal growth.
